Post extraction instructions
Immediately bite on a gauze to stop the bleeding for 30 minutes, after that you may remove the gauze.
Avoid eating for two hours. Avoid rinsing your mouth or spitting for 24 hours, so a blood clot can be created and the bleeding stops completely.
Hot foods should be avoided and 24 hours of soft foods diet is recommended. It is advised to rest and not to perform any physical exercise. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
There is a possibility of swelling and pain that can be controlled by placing an ice bandage on and off the cheek, hold and stop every other minute to avoid frostbite injury. In case of continuing bleeding in the mouth, it is recommended to take a tea bag, put on the bleeding wound and press for half an hour. In the event that the bleeding has not stopped, contact your physician.
When the anesthesia passes , usually after several hours, there may be pain. You can use pain medicine in accordance with your dentist.
Two days after extraction, it is recommended to rinse with salt and water several times a day. Avoid brushing the extraction area for the first 24 hours.
Take antibiotics in accordance with the physician. In the case of displacement with stitches – There may be a need removing sutures after 7-10 days after the extraction.
Side effects can be – mild swelling and pain for several days, difficulty in opening of the mouth and a bruise on the face.
In cases where there is severe pain, new bleeding, swelling in the cervical area or fever, contact your dentist immediately.
